Beowulf Awaits

by Lonely Mountain Band

/

about

In celebration of the release of J.R.R. Tolkien's translation of Beowulf and inspired by the Anglo-Saxon tale itself through a recent drawing by bladesmith David DelaGardelle of Cedarlore Forge; this instrumental track invokes the mood during Beowulf's contemplative night watch awaiting Grendel.
A poet has asked, "Where now the hand on the harp-string?" The Minstrel answers, "Still here plucking a tune for you. Where now the patron of the heart-string?"
The hand is not only on the harp-string for this track, but also on frame-drum, battle-horn, fiddle, kantele and guitar.
